Candice Tarnowski was born in 1972 on the Western Canadian Prairie. She has a BFA in Textiles from the Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary and an MFA in Sculpture and Fibres from Concordia University in Montréal. Her work is based in domestic practices, drawing and installation. She has participated in residencies and set up homes and studios in small spaces in North Carolina, Holland, Hungary, the Sub-Arctic and Atlantic Coast of North America. Her work is included in private and public collections and has been shown across North America and Europe. She has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Yukon Arts Council, the Winnipeg Crafts Council and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Candice splits her time between Montréal and the Yukon where she produces work, does private textile restoration, snowshoes, and tends a miniature dachshund and a contained garden.
